Term One Reflection

The main thing that I learned in this class till now is the rule of thirds, and focus. I realized that when the main point of your picture is in focus the picture gets its own atmosphere. The focus draws the viewer’s attention to the object that is in focus. The rule of thirds makes your picture look different from a picture that has its subject in the center. Another key thing that I learned this term is Photoshop. Photoshop makes can make a mediocre picture look phenomenal, because we can increase and decrease the brightness/contrast, adjust the vibrance, create/erase shadows, and also apply vignettes to draw the viewers attention to the desired spot on the photo. Next term I want to learn how to use more setting on the cameras, and get more fluent with Photoshop. I want to learn about how angles affect your photo. We touched on that topic this term, but I want to go into depth about it.

Creative thinking inspires great ideas. Get thinking!

Term Three Reflection

Term 3 was by far the most educational term since the beginning of the year. In this term we completed various project, such as double exposures, mini legends, over under exposure, and the leading lines project. These projects strengthened our photoshop skills, as well as our previously learned rule of thirds, exposure, aperture, and other basic camera skills. This term was also packed of new skills, such as the leading lines concept, and the mini legends storytelling idea. In this final term of photography, I feel that I have improved my pictures in the composition, and basic skills area. My photograph skills have definitely improved a lot since the time I walked into this class. My idea of photography used to be very simple. I used to think that the camera would do all the work for you; you just need to pick it up, and press the button.I now understand the complexity of all the settings of a camera. I now have lots of photoshop skills since the beginning o the year, where I started off without even knowing where the eraser was! This term was more of a creative term where we had to use a lot of photoshop to alter pictures that we took. The photobomb project required us to photoshop our faces, or ourselves where  we don't belong. The double exposure project had us combine two pictures in innovative ways using the blending modes on photoshop. In the mini legends project, we created a story using photos. Mine was about a plane that hadn't flown for a long time, and it wanted to fly once again. After trying, he eventually flew, and he flew into the sun. That was a cool project, because we explored many different angles from where a picture would look awesome. In all, this term was a very enlightening, and enjoyable term. I hope you enjoy my new pictures.

Enjoy!
